Heavy copper PCBs are a special type of printed circuit board (PCB). Their core characteristic is that the thickness of the copper foil in the circuit layers is much greater than in ordinary PCBs. Typically, the copper layer thickness reaches 70μm (approximately 2oz) or more, and can even reach 500μm (15oz), while the copper foil thickness in ordinary PCBs is generally 18-35μm (1-2oz). The manufacturing process of heavy copper PCBs is more complex than that of ordinary PCBs, requiring strict quality control.

When space is limited and widening traces cannot handle high currents, Heavy copper PCBs are necessary. The thicker copper layer allows them to carry large currents (tens to hundreds of amperes) while efficiently conducting current and dissipating heat to prevent overheating.
